                                   Nursery

When we have puppies, they are raised in our home, and are well socialized. We have 3 caring children, and other Havanese, who love to play with the puppies. We are not a kennel! These dogs are all in our home, so they are treated as part of the family. Our puppies are in our kitchen, so we are with them the majority of the day. Once they are old enough, we take them to other parts of the house so they can get used to new places. It is so cute to see how cautious they are of the "new" land we call the living room. It's a big adventure leaving the kitchen. Weather permitting, we will even venture outside.
They are also well on their way to being house trained. We built a wonderful whelping box, potty area, and play yard. They sleep in the whelping area, do their business in the potty area, and goof around in the play yard. By the time they are ready to go home, they are pretty good about running to the potty area at the right time. We put crates (with no doors) in the play area, so the puppies learn to love sleeping in them. Usually, they all pile in together.
